The FIFI PROJECT
Great News! The FIFI PROJECT was officially launched last week. After many years of collecting Bigfoot sighting reports, countless eyewitness interviews and some creative thinking, the first of the “Curiosity Traps” has been set-up and is now operational. The Curiosity Traps are simple video surveillance recording systems that monitor areas located near specially designed devices that are intended to “peak” the Bigfoot creatures curiosity and draw them closer to the video surveillance area where they will be filmed and recorded. One of the Curiosity Traps has been design and built because of eyewitness reports of the Bigfoot creatures looking through windows of a home as the people watch television were totally oblivious that the Bigfoot creatures were there watching the same television. It wasn’t until a neighbor alerted them that someone was outside their home looking in did the homeowners look and see the creature outside. The Curiosity Trap that was installed turns on at specific times during the evening and early morning hours. When the system turns on, a pre-recorded program starts playing on the television. The light from the television not only illuminates the room, but also the outside area that backs to the woods illuminating the bushes and trees, hopefully drawing attention. The television inside the room is strategically placed so that is not visible from far away, the creature must get within the surveillance area and very close to the window to actually see what is playing on the television. The audio is also turned up to attract acoustic attention during the night. The residents of this particular property rarely use it as they are from out of state so the property is vacant most of the time.
In this particular application the video is of Primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall working with the Chimpanzees, the DVD is called Jane Goodall’s Wild Chimpanzees and it demonstrates her special connection between humans and chimps. Hopefully the Bigfoot creatures will view the video and have a better understanding of us. The goal of this project is to “establish communication through curiosity”, the same way Dr. Jane Goodall achieved success many years ago. Her work has not gone by overlooked, hopefully we will also achieve success with our techniques. More curiosity traps are now being designed and built, these will be installed at the rate of one per month at various VBRO research sites throughout Virginia.
FIFI was a curious 2 year old Chimp when Dr. Jane Goodall started her work in Gombe, its FIFI’s curiously that this project is named.
One more note: Another Time Lapse camera system was deployed at one of our research locations. This unit will take one Hi-Res photograph every five seconds during daylight hours for the next two months. Two hunters had seen a Bigfoot creature from 20 feet away at this location so hopefully the creature will come back or it may be an established travel route for them. The wide angle and the extreme distance this camera records will film any animal up to 100 yards away. The camera is mounted 15 high in a tree and is completely camouflaged using natural concealments. The camera does not emit any Ultrasonic sounds animals may be able to hear so we`re hoping for some good results!
