Setting: On January 12, 2003, my son and I were hikinh through the western part of Leesylvania State Park (Eastern Prince William County). We hiked along the Powells Creek Loop Trail. It`s the first trail you come to as you enter the park. We got off the trail, and hiked into new residentail construction they`re doing next to the park along the shores of Powells Creek. The development is called Powells Landing. You have to go through Newport Estates to get this development. We found some large & deep footprints frozen into mud. This time I had a camera to take pictures of the footprints… On the hike back to the car, we were about 300 yards from the trail parking area on the Powells Creek Loop Trail. I needed to use the "restroom" before getting into the car. I stepped behind a large tree to the right of the trail (facing east). My son came off the trail on the right side of the trail and stoof approximately 10 feet behind me to my right. The large tree was not blocking his view up of the woods along the trail. Also my son`s height at the time was approximately 4-5 feet so he was able to see under the holly trees in the area. Before I started to take care of my "business", my son got excited and asked what was that? I asked him what he thought he saw. He said he thought he has seen a bigfoot. I stepped from behind the tree and didn`t head or see anything. He said he made eye contact with "It", he looked up at me and when he looked back it was gone. I thought since we had found the footprints that his imagination was running a little wild. When I asked him for details of what he had seen, he started to describe features that as a 9 year old boy probably wouldn`t know about.
Physical Description: The creature was kneeling and approximately 6-12 inches taller than me when kneeling (I`m 70"). He could clearly see the upper body of the creature. He described the hair as black and approximately 3 inches long. When compared to the hair of the gorilla & orangutan at the National Zoo, the hair was the same color as the gorilla (black), but the consistency of the orangutan (long & thin). The skin was black like a gorilla. No whites in the eyes. No visible neck. The top of the head pointed like the gorilla with the hair sticking up. The hands were like the orangutan with long fingers. He described the arms & chest were like Arnold Schwarzenegger`s - very muscular and defined with wide shoulders. My sone said the creater would make a good football player. He could clearly see the nipples. The mouth was closed, but the top canine teeth were visible. When they made eye contact, the creature seemed very angry that he was seen.
