Location: Actually in the Shawsville,Christianburg Va. area.
Activities: Thought was a bear coming up in a blackberry patch.When it proceed closer to me I realized that it was not a bear.
Witnesses: none
Setting: When I was about 16. {21 years ago} I was sitting in a tree stand over looking a blackberry patch waitng to kill a deer. Around 10am I heard movement coming from the patch. As the movement got closer, I could see color, It was a blackish brown. I knew it wasn,t a deer and thought that mabe a pig from a neiboring farm was rutting around. As this thing got closer,I could tell that it was not a pig. But what looked to be like a hairy young boy. I thought it maybe was a boy lost in the woods or something. So I yelled to him, Hey are you lost. This thing rose up what looked to be about 4-5 feet of the ground and looked right up at me. I was 15-20 feet up a climbing tree stand. But I was still scared. I knew that there were no wrungs of a later to climb up to me but all kinds of things raced through my head.I had in hand a 30-06 but never though about using it. I also thought that this thing might be a joke. I was very,very scared. After about 15 seconds of this thing looking at me it took off done the hillside no time flat. I was so scared I fired my gun in the air about 20 minutes later so my Dad would here me shoot and eventually come check on me. When he arrived about 45 minutes later, I climbed down.I lied about shooting at a big buck and convinced him that it was a clean miss no need to look for it. I was glad when we left. I told my Dad on the way back to Virginia Beach what had happened.He said that while growing up in the poor mountains as they call them He had heard a similar story from someone he knew back in the late 50`s. I have and still hunt those mountain today. I have never told this story to anyone other than my dad, and occassionally I will be watching a documentry on Bigfoot and such and I will tell my boys 7 and 9 that I have seen one but they laugh.
Physical Description: Creature was about 4-5 feet tall, maybe bigger because I was up a tree. Had blaskish/Brown hair. I have hunted for 30 years now. IT wasn`t then or now a bear or a farm animal.
